In 1967 the 59th District Assembly of the Alabama District, Church of the Nazarene, in session at Panama City, May 17 - 18, 1967, voted in favor of re-location of our district campground. Following the assembly your district superintendent and camp board began the search for a suitable location. It was felt that an undeveloped tract of land, easily accessible, near the center of the district, would be preferred by our constituency. It was hoped, too, that such acreage might be acquired at a reasonable cost. "The Alabama District has a great history of Camp Meeting interest and enthusiasm, dating back to the earliest days of our church, NOW, in our 60th Anniversary Year, as we make this transition, we must keep the old camp meeting spirit. aglow and build a great camp meeting center to reach thousands more with the message of full salvation."
